Why Denver Lutheran High School?

Straight Talk for Parents

If you clicked the link, you must be asking the question: “Why should I send my child to Denver Lutheran High School?”

I’ll get right to the point. You need to send your child to Denver Lutheran High School because we educate with Jesus Christ. And in today’s day and age, you either educate your children with Jesus Christ, or they will be educated against Him. DLHS boldly proclaims the saving Gospel of Jesus Christ without apology. DLHS is not just a private school; it is a Christian high school that puts Jesus Christ first in all that it does. We have theology classes, chapels, devotions, prayer, etc. Colorado has many large, new public high schools that have beautiful facilities, quality academics, and great programs. But so what? They are missing the very thing that makes DLHS special – Jesus Christ.

And yet, we do not take a backseat to any school in terms of academic excellence. DLHS is an environment that nurtures academic excellence. The very first minute a freshman steps foot in our building, he or she begins a journey that is focused on developing his/her academic abilities with an eye on college. 96% of all DLHS graduates over the last ten years have gone on to college. Put simply, DLHS graduates seek out higher education, and they do it at the best colleges and universities. Our average ACT score over the last five years is 21.8, well above the state and national averages. Our academic excellence can be directly traced to outstanding, certified teachers, rigorous expectations, and a caring atmosphere where students can seek out the help that they need to be successful.

We offer many excellent extra-curricular programs as well. We excel in athletics, drama, and music. It is a misconception that as a small Christian school we cannot keep up with other larger and/or public schools when it comes to activities. Our coaches and sponsors have a passion for their programs, and produce quality and results. DLHS encourages students to participate in activities and receive a well-rounded education.

In 2005, our science labs were renovated and are now state-of-the-art. Prior to the 2005-2006 school year, a new addition was added to the front of the building that included a new media center, computer labs, and offices. The baseball field and track were remodeled as well. God has blessed us with beautiful facilities.

I have to be honest – I love Denver Lutheran High School. I am surrounded by faculty and staff that are dedicated to the mission of DLHS. I walk through the hallways and see students that are God’s children, being educated by people that care for them, and being taught daily about God’s love. How can you not want that for your children? I personally invite you to visit our campus at any time. Just give me a call. If you live down south and the drive seems too far, you should certainly check out Lutheran High School – Parker.

I hope you’ll send your son or daughter to DLHS. God has great things going here, and I wouldn’t want them to miss out on any of it.

Thanks for reading – God’s blessings on your decision,
